Splice Super 8 mm. Film
1. Raise the cutting bar and place
both film strips on the upper row of prongs (marked 1),
centre the frames to be cut between the two middle
prongs. Be sure that the emulsion (dull) side of both
film strips face in the same direction.
2. Close the cutting bar over the film
and press down firmly to cut the film.
3. Raise the cutting bar and remove
the top waste piece of film.
4. Place a quik splice tape, printed
side up, with the red flap on the two (large) locating
prongs.
5. Hold the red half of the quik
splice tape down with your finger and peel the lower
(blue) flap off by pulling toward you. Rub the splice
area.
6. Turn the film over and replace it
on the lower prongs. Remove the remaining paper flap and
fold tape over film.
7. Rub entire splice area to assure a
permanent bond.
To
Splice Standard 8 mm. Film
1. Raise the cutting-bar and place
both film strips on the lower prongs with sprocket holes
facing you. Centre the frame to be cut between the two
middle prongs. Be sure that the emulsion (dull) side of
both film strips face in the same direction.
2. Close the cutting bar and press
down firmly to cut the film.
3. Raise the cutting bar and remove
the top waste piece of film.
4. Place a quik splice tape, printed
side up, over the film with the RED flap on the two upper
locating prongs.
5. Hold the RED half of the quik
splice tape down with your finger, and peel the lower
(BLUE) flap off pulling towards you. Rub the splice
area.
6. Turn the film over and replace it
on the same prongs. Remove the remaining paper flap and
fold tape over film. Rub the entire splice area to assure
a permanent bond.
